Foundation Courses – TAG & Rugby Ready

Foundation Courses – start your rugby union coaching career

The RFU’s foundation courses are designed to give coaches the tools to help train people who are new to the game of rugby union, especially focusing on the forms where players take their first steps with ball in hand. There is no better way to make a start in coaching rugby union, especially if you want to make a start coaching tag rugby.

Rugby Leaders Foundation

Using tag rugby, the Rugby Leaders Foundation Course introduces the game and develops leadership skills for practical application within local communities. To complete the course rugby leaders should have organised, delivered and reviewed a rugby activity in a community setting.

This course is designed to be taken predominantly by 16 to 18-year-olds within an educational context. However, the course can be delivered to a wider audience. The duration of the course is a minimum five hours in addition to a community based delivery programme or event.

The emphasis of the course is on the leaders taking the initiative, with the assistance of a fully accredited facilitator. The Rugby Leaders Foundation Course includes the Start Coaching Tag Rugby Course.
