Petersfield II 0 – 67 Havant AXV

Havant were looking to at least mantain 2nd position in the league against an outfit that at the end of last season were looking very strong….today this was not quite the case.

Havant had a couple of props out because they were running the great south run, although James Hewett played a full 80 mins and still ran the GSR so Simon and Ted better have beaten James’ time as they were so well rested!!

Unfortunately Petersfield couldn’t field a front row as they didn’t last season so the game was uncontested at the scrum, which made for a rather fast paced game. This suited Havant and we took the ball to Peterfield to great effect.

One thing to work on is the ruck situation, more explosive clearing out is required but this will be improved on for the next match!

Tries from Peter Living, John Neil (2), Jake (3), Nick Wren, Alex Tomlinson, Mike Issit, James Hewett, Jack Sykes (finally!)

The next big game is at Sandown Shanklin II for a big top of the table clash on the 13th November. Need to make sure you are available to play in this one!

Man of the Match

Contenders:

Nick Wren, usual industrial strength running off rucks, causing havoc and handing off most of the Wethersfield defence at some point.

Newcomer Jake made a massive impact and his speed at rucks and lineouts in defence was crucial in Petersfield being unable to score.

Jules on the wing was strong in attack, refusing to be taken to ground or on the first tackle.

Tyler again continues to make an impact, particularly in defence as usual!

But with two superbly taken tries, the first of which he stayed strong to squeeze in at the corner past 3 defenders, good defence and kicking us out of trouble at full back, a new comer this season who is gaining in confidence week after week this week’s man of the match is:

John Neil

Well done John!
