Breaking News from the Academy as Director of Rugby Rob Matthews announces a new head coach for the 2022-23 season!.
Commenting the DOR " I am delighted to confirm that Jason Steele will step up from his role as assistant coach to assume the pivotal role of our Academy Head Coach. The Academy is the lifeblood of senior rugby at Havant, providing many graduates to the first-team squad over the years. Jason fits the profile of a developing coach with a track record in the game".
Jason is currently the Royal Navy Rugby League HC and guided his squad to the 4th round of the Rugby League Challenge Cup this season alongside his Academy duties at Hav.
Jason advised " I am privileged to step up to this role and further develop my coaching skills and am driven both to develop the rugby skills but also help the young players develop their love for the sport"
The appointment arose as HC in 2018 Steve Woolcombe has moved on to pursue other coaching opportunities and Matthews advised the club owes Steve a debt of gratitude for his commitment to driving the Academy in terms of its professional approach to S&C and preparation and in being at the top of the tree in Hants rugby with many players graduating to senior ranks and we wish him well for the future!.
