Walking Rugby – Havant Hobblers
Come and join us
This season has seen the walking rugby group increase their numbers and play a few fixtures.
Walking Rugby is a fun team game that is accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Whether an established player or completely new to the game it is a much simpler version of the traditional rugby game. Allegedly less physical than a standard game of rugby, the aim is to have fun, socialise and keep active.
Walking Rugby benefits should Improve physical health, well-being, self-esteem, relaxation, social inclusion, positivity, concentration and motivation.
However, whilst it is open to both genders and anyone over the age of 17, the group predominantly comprises the more mature males with an age range of 57 to 74 so plenty of opportunity to reduce the average down from 65 and probably improve the chances of winning a fixture for you younger males and, of course, any women that would like to participate. There are many Mixed Walking Rugby Teams around the country.
The group meets on Thursdays to play and train, which starts at 18:00 and usually finishes with a trip to the bar for the social aspect at about 19:00.
Thursdays are attracting a great turnout, before going to print with this the last Thursday was the 17th and the squad of players is shown in the photo.
