We have just received notification the planned works will be starting next month, this is about 3 months earlier than the last information that we had received. This applies to the overall scheme and specifically for the work on the Hooks Lane Playing Fields.
There is more detailed information on the PWC website https://havant-thicket-reservoir.uk.engagementhq.com/reservoir-pipelines Including an interactive map for the entire route https://havant-thicket-reservoir.uk.engagementhq.com/reservoir-pipelines/places/reservoir-pipelines-interactive-map
The bullet points for the schedule are;-
1. Quarter 2 2026: Preparation work ahead of the construction of tunnelling access Shaft W2.
2. Quarter 2 & 3 2026: Construction of Shaft W2.
3. Quarter 3 2026 to Quarter 2 2027: Construction of tunnelled pipelines section between Shaft W2 (south-west corner of Hooks Lane playing fields), and Shaft W1 (at Portsmouth Water’s Bedhampton Pumping Station, south of the railway line, at Meyrick Road).
4. Quarter 2 2027 to Quarter 1 2028: Construction of ‘open cut’ pipelines section at Hooks Lane playing fields.
5. Quarter 3 to Quarter 4 2027: Fitting out of Shaft W2, followed by reinstatement work to return construction area to same condition or better than before.
6. Quarter 1 2027: Construction of tunnelling access Shaft W3 in north-east corner of Hooks Lane playing fields, just south of Hooks Farm Way.
7. Quarter 1 to Quarter 4 2027: Construction of tunnelled pipelines section between Shaft 4 (at Stockheath Meadow, to west of Stockheath Lane) and Shaft 3 (north-east corner of Hooks Lane playing fields).
8. Quarter 2 2028: Fitting out of Shaft W3, followed by reinstatement work to return construction area to same condition or better than before.
This effectively means that for stages 1-5 inclusive we will lose access to within 3m of the inside pipe (dark blue), as well as Dingley Dell. It is likely P4 reinstatement will not be complete until the 2028-29 season. The residual work in stages 6-8 should have a much reduced impact on our use of the playing fields.
This work will create some difficulties for the club and it’s member for the next 2 seasons but we’d like to ask everyone to understand that we have done everything possible to mitigate the circumstances and request your tolerance and understanding as we go though this.
To compliment the graphic here there will also be a 1:500 scale plan of the Hooks Lane works displayed at the Club next week 18th May, to the left of the door into the Bar area from the Lift Lobby/Toilets corridor.
