LAUNCH OF CLUB “LIGHT ME UP” FUNDRAISING & DEBENTURE SCHEME

The existing floodlights illuminating pitch 2 and the surrounding training area, in their current state, do not provide sufficient light for the safe training of our ever-increasing number of players. Unfortunately, the current floodlights are obsolete, expensive to run and increasingly unreliable and need replacing with modern and efficient LED luminaires to enhance the light for training next season and to help with our quest to make our club more sustainable.

The project scope indicates an approximate cost of £60,000 to replace all 6 columns and their lights. The club plans to achieve this in 2 phases:

- Phase 1: By Autumn 2023 - Replace 3 x columns and 5 x lights located on the south side of pitch 2 to provide sufficient training capacity for all squads throughout the winter months.
- Phase 2: As soon as funding allows– Replace 3x columns and 6 x lights on the north side of pitch 2 which will allow the pitch to be used for floodlit training games.

A planning application has been submitted to Havant Borough Council and construction is due to commence in September this year. In order to have the new lights installed for the autumn, the Club will need to commit to the project by 15th Jun 23.

The club is now offering the opportunity to subscribe for our “Light me up Debenture Scheme” to raise the capital required for the project. The success of the scheme, together with any other fundraising, will dictate whether both phases of the project are completed this year.

The Debenture will enable Club members to play their part in the future of Havant RFC by helping to finance the replacement of the old floodlights. This is essential work to enable our development of ‘rugby for all’ across the club, and throughout the year (in particular during the winter months).

The Club will invite all participants in our debenture scheme to enjoy pre-match hospitality for 2 people.

The debentures will be issued in units of £1,000 and will be repaid by ballot over a five-year period. There is no limit per subscriber. The scheme will last a maximum of 5 years and the Management Board will undertake to redeem not less than 20% of the Debentures in each year. These will be drawn yearly at the AGM. As an example, if £30,000 is raised through 30 Debentures, then 6 x £1,000 Debentures will be repaid each year, for 5 years.
