PAPA JOHNS SEMI-FINAL PREVIEW - HAVANT v HEATH HOOKS LANE
Tomorrow Havant plays arguably their biggest game in almost 20 seasons when they face Regional 1 North East side Heath RUFC from Halifax in the semi-final(2 PM Kick-off) of the Papa John’s Community Cup, with the winners playing at Twickenham.
2003 Havant travelled to Yorkshire to play Bradford & Bingley in the semi-final of the RFU Intermediate Cup. Losing to the eventual winners, some say would have made a fitting final. The present squad and coaching staff are not lost on the history of the club and what it means to players and the fan base “The Faithful”.
Will Knight Head-coach said " I am so proud of these players, they have worked so hard and I just hope they can take one more step and get to the final,
Last weekend was amazing! The pride of the club in their team was so clear and the players responded! I think the atmosphere on Saturday will be something special".
Will Knight names an unchanged side from last weekend's win over Camberley. In naming seven replacements, he added Nathan Bellman, Jarod Leat, Sam Vince, and debut-making Eddie Lewis to the matchday squad.
A little about our visitors tomorrow, Heath R.U.F.C hail from just outside Halifax in West Yorkshire. They finished their season on a high securing 2nd place behind Billington in Regional 1 North East. They won their group by beating Regional 1 North West champions Lymm last weekend.
They have also played at Twickenham, in the 2001/02 season, the 'Powergen' Junior Vase beating Bromley 16-10.
