After having a week off, Havant returned to Regional 1 action with a first visit to the Lane for Hammersmith & Fulham. In fact, it was the first meeting between the two clubs at any level.
The sponsors lunch swelled the numbers watching on the sidelines and the stand to over 400.
Will Knight's selection saw the return of front row pair Armandus Morgan and Tam Lindsay with Sam Vince also returning in the back row.
The game itself was a strange one with Havant seemingly well on top only to see The Hammers come right back into the game. Three early, well taken tries from Jake Hewett, Sean Shepherd (who else!) and Wes Dugan all converted by Jacob Knight's boot saw Havant storm into a 21-3 lead inside the first fifteen minutes. The Hammers had other ideas and stormed back with three tries of their own, Jacob Knight scored a penalty and a breathless first half came to an end.

Within five minutes of the restart the Hammers found themselves in front with another well worked try, things were not going well and the faithful sensed an upset.
It took fifteen minutes or so for Havant to respond and gain control, the noise level around the sidelines went up a notch or two but I'm not sure if that was Havant's work in the loose or the man in the middle? When Jacob Knight powered his way through to put Havant back in front with twenty to go the belief was back, James Wise a threat all game, scored out wide to give Havant some breathing space. The Hammers however continued to attack, and only good "D" kept them out. With the clock almost in the red Reuben Knight made sure of the win dancing his way through for try number six.

Will Knight's thoughts after the game
"A really good result and another important five points in the bank. We started really well and looked to be cruising and if we are being brutality honest, we were guilty of dropping off a little. Hammersmith came back at us and got in front. But yet again the players showed that they can work out the issues in the moment, on the park and in the end, we were good for the win with three tries in the last quarter."
