Havant's game in hand due to played at Tunbridge Wells, was called off Friday due to the pitch not being fit to play rugby on. So, after several grounds were banded about, the game was played at Hooks Lane much to the faithful's delight.
The locals again attended in numbers creating the usual electric atmosphere. As the players run onto the pitch.
Will Knight selection again was challenging with the ever-decreasing number of players available. Kelton New made his debut from the bench, which also saw the talented Jack Phillips make his first start at fullback.
Havant started the quicker and after several minutes of pressure found themselves well inside the TW's half. A penalty quickly followed after a high shot in midfield. This was duly dispatched by Jacob Knight to touch for the first catch and drive of the game. The rolling maul splintered and TW'S defence disappeared as Wes Dugan made no mistake for the first points.
Havant went further in front moments later when a surging run by Jacob Knight gave space to the backline to whip the ball out to none other than Sean Shepherd (Sean on the wing! I hear you cry) he sold a perfect dummy and was in for his 16th try of the campaign not bad for a hooker.
Havant's lead 12-0 with little over ten minutes gone.
Tw's powerful backrow caused problems for the next ten minutes resulting in a try close to the line. Game on.
Havant again found themselves inside the TW's 5-meter line and a yellow card was dished out after several infringements. The pressure continued and sniper Ben Holt fired the bullets for Havant's third try making the score 19-7. There was lots of energy about this Havant side, sadly missing from last week. The faithful were enjoying the opening thirty minutes or so. But beware Tunbridge Wells!
Havant were 5 meters out but wasted the opportunity, only to see TW'S go the other end and score right on half time against the run of play.

Half-time Tunbridge Wells 14 Havant 19

The 2nd half started with a bang and an early try for TW's giving them the lead for the first time. Havant re-grouped behind the posts.
It was a bit of an arm-wrestle for the next fifteen minutes with neither side having the upper hand, the game became a little tense.
But on sixty minutes Havant had their noses in front with another infringement at the breakdown, Jacob Knight not missing the penalty. Havant led 22-21.
The next six minutes was a Jake Hewett masterclass in not giving up and finishing! first, he won possession outside on the wing after the TW's player was adjudged to have held on in the tackle then he smashed his way over for try number one, extending Havant's lead 29-21. Finally, Jake Hewett run on to a sublime kick from player of the match Reuben Knight, doting down in the corner. Havant had a commanding 34-21 lead going into the last ten minutes.
Tw's came back again getting a deserved try bonus, with another pick and go move in the closing moments.

Will Knight's thoughts after the game
"Well done to Tunbridge a really tough team and a great bunch of lads. They showed why they have been a challenge to all teams this year.
We needed a response after last week and knew that we had to step up. We did that in some style.
There were some outstanding individual performances today but more important a collective push to ensure we didn’t let the opportunity slip.
We have some really big games coming up now and hope that we can get a few more into the available pot in the coming weeks but for today we have to be very happy with what we did."
