The latest round of Regional One South Central saw Havant travel to Chiswick to face a tough CS Stags. Memories of Chiswick are not good suffering some rather embarrassing defeats over the years against various London clubs including CS Stags.
Will Knight had to re-shuffle the pack again, giving a start to Ash Chirima in the front row and Wayne Dugan playing in the back-row! with several noticeable absentees.
A rather vociferous and large crowd by CS stags standards cheered on the home side whilst the Havant players seemed to be still on the bus.
Poor tackling or no tackling and CS stags' willingness to run at Havant with a strong following wind, caused havoc. With Havant finding themselves 15-0 down with less than twenty minutes played. Havant's only bright spot was a Joel Knight try and conversion by Jacob Knight.
But CS Stag's came back again to score their third try before the half was finished.

Half-time CS Stags 22 Havant 7

With the wind it was expected that Havant would throw the proverbial kitchen sink at CS...
Wes Dugan scored just after the restart and Havant were 10 points behind. The pressure ramped up and Havant attacked CS, pinning them back inside their own half for long periods of the half. But no breakthrough, frustrated at the breakdown, with hands clearly in the ruck and played on the floor, Havant carried on pushing for another try.
Finally on sixty-nine minutes and under heavy pressure an outstretched Ben Holt scored a try, with Jacob Knight converting 22-19 or so we thought?
CS had hardly been out of their half when they again broke deep into Havant's 22, Havant this time managed to keep them out with some clever defence, launching their own attack in the process. Back down the other end and top try scorer was over the try line only to be adjudged to be held up much to the relief of the CS Stag's players and coaching staff on the sidelines.
Havant had a penalty well within the range of Jacob Knight's boot, to tie the game! After several shall we say indiscretions at the breakdown. Some confusion maybe with the score, he chose to kick to touch for the all-important catch and drive. The lineout was lost, and CS Stags stormed back down the other end to put pressure again on the Havant defence. Ending any chance of a perfect comeback. Celebrations were wild amongst the Stag's faithful. As Havant lost for only the 2nd time this season.

Will Knight's thoughts after the game
"Congratulations to CS Rugby. They played well and put us under significant pressure all day.
We struggled to get going and made some uncharacteristic mistakes in the first half letting them in for easy scores.
We were a bit better in the second half but clearly not on the same wavelength as the referee and consequently the breakdowns became a real mess with no real opportunity for competition - a big issue if you are chasing the game!
We will learn from this, review and regroup ahead of a crucial outing next week. What we do know is will need to be a lot better."
