The trip to Oxford Quins was not for the feint hearted as we were travelling into the eye of storm " Bert" which had promised torrential rain and 70mph winds.
So it was with trepidation that the faithful set off for Oxford looking like an Arctic expedition more than a group going to watch a game of rugby !
Bert certainly did not disappoint the conditions were atrocious and this game was going to be won by who handled the conditions better the game was riddled with kicks going out on the full due to the ferocious wind and numerous knock on's due to the never ending rain making the ball slippery.
The conditions played havoc with the fans as well as strangely the driving rain at our backs soaked us to the skin but left the front of us relatively unscathed !
The first half saw our boys playing into the wind and rain and to keep the score at 17-7 at half time was testament to our efforts, we eagerly awaited the second half to have the wind behind our backs and see what the men in blue and white could do and we weren't disappointed as we slowly chipped away at Quins lead to rack up 15 unanswered points to make the score 22-17 in our favour and come away with a great win
It was a strange sight in the clubhouse afterwards with all of the available radiators being covered with soaked backsides !!
The elements had one more say in the days proceedings as the windscreen wipers on the team coach gave up the ghost with a 30 minute wait to get a replacement coach to take us back to HQ !!

Head-coach Will Knight's words
"Conditions were awful today which made moving the ball really difficult. I think we saw that in the first 20 where both teams struggled to hold onto the ball. When we turned around just 10 points down I always felt we were capable of getting the win but in these conditions it was never going to be straightforward. I thought our control and decision-making in the last quarter was excellent and a contrast to what happened last week. We have a rest this week and then a really important run up to the Christmas break."
