Dolphins 10 v Sevenoaks 44

Havant Dolphins welcomed Sevenoaks 2’s to Hooks Lane on a wet Saturday lunchtime for a friendly which was being played on the AGP, this was the curtain raiser before Havant 1XV entertained Sevenoaks 1XV.

This was Dolphins first game on the new pitch which they soon discovered that it was a much faster pace of rugby!!!

Dolphins pack consisted of Joe Johnson, Captain Charlie Wright and Jonny Hill Mortimer playing front row, second row saw a return from Levi Huntingdon and Joe Nolan who had his first taste of playing for the Dolphins, back row was Ed Gaught, Harrison Chalk and Tim Miller.

The backs were Cam Mcguian, Gareth Davies, Josh Owen, Harrison Davies, Jay Wilkes, Will Gibson and Jonah North.

On the bench we had Sam Wilson, Ciaran Vernon and Jake Biggs.

The match started and it was clear from the start that Sevenoaks meant business.

After 13 minutes it was the away side that was the first to get on the scoresheet with a try which they converted.

Havant were quick to respond and four minutes later saw Will Gibson cross the line.

Dolphins unfortunately gave away two penalties, one after another which resulted in Sevenoaks adding 6 points to their score.

Frustration from both teams saw two yellow cards being awarded, which resulted in both teams down to 14 men and a bit of juggling within the pack.

Both teams settled down and some great rugby from Havant saw Jay Wilkes cross the line.

Sevenoaks were quick to respond with a converted score just before half time.

Half time score 10-20

Back out on the field and Sevenoaks were yet again quick to respond with another converted try.

Frustration again from Havant led to another yellow to Havant and a penalty to Sevenoaks which they successfully kicked through the uprights.

Havant down to 14 men and a strong Sevenoaks side yet again scored and converted the try.

Havant back to full strength but still found it hard to get across the line.

Sevenoaks were awarded yet another yellow card and 5 minutes later another one so Sevenoaks were down to 13 men which should of given Havant the edge but unfortunately a few handling errors Havant were still unable to cross the line.

Sevenoaks back to 15 men and yet again powered over the line to score and convert their try just before the final whistle.
