Gosport scored first after 6 minutes and it took a while for Dolphins to get possession and get into their game. On 21st minute lock Craig Durnin touched down for Dolphins first try, and centre harry Rabjohn converted 1st of 3 for the day. 7 minutes later and winger James Wise went over. Dolphins were getting into their stride when lock Will Saunders, and then flanker Harrison Chalk touched down but the referee felt both were held up over the line. Scrum half Wes Dugan at scrum half was giving good service and flanker Archie Carter-Humpheries was making a real impact that resulted in Man of the Match performance. 14-5 Half Time.
Dolphins dominated second half from restart but dogged defence saw Gosport hold out. Finally after 13 attack phases, and a quick tap penalty, James Wise touched down for his 2nd. Gosport showed they weren't out of the reckoning with a sharp lineout move that gave them their 2nd try; 21-10. Dolphins just could get possession and Gosport added another which was converted, 21-17. Dolphins realised that there was a risk the game was going to slip away from them and that Gosport might even get a point from the game. Winger Chris Buckett came on and made an immediate impact but wasn't rewarded. Dolphins strung together 8 phases and James Wise secured his hat trick; 26-17. Gosport weren't finished and continued to fight but Dolphins weathered a driving maul attack and held them up in goal. Dolphins closed out the game and a sigh of relief was heard from the manger and coaches.
Back to The Lane next week to play Ellingham & Ringwood who now sit in 2nd place in the league.
