The Dolphins put is a very proffessional performance against league leaders and unbeaten Totts.
The weather was always going to play a factor, but that did not stop both teams playing some good rugby.
Totts hit an early penalty to take the lead, while havant missed 2 fairly straight foward kicks at goal to draw level. Havant also lost electric winger Jay Wilkes, but he was replaced by Luke Warrington.
It was in fact Luke Warrington that got Havants open score with a fine team try. The conversion was missed. Totts added to their tally with another penalty to make the half time score 5-6. In fairness it was the Havant side that looked far more threatening and wondered how they went in behind.
Totts came out in the second half and tried to use their poweful pack to breach the Havant defence. Havant would not be bullied and were more than a match and showed great spirit and pride in keeping them out. This spirit was typified but young prop Charlie Sandford. After a difficult couple of scrums, he came back fighting and made sure he didnt let his team mates down. After a good 10 minutes defending their own line, Havant broke away with Luke Warrington showing great pace and awareness to score his second try. It was again unconverted.
The Havant realy pushed on and made their superiorty tell, with a good run through the middle from prop Justin Powell and had James Sutton on hand to touch down under the posts. Ban Santy took over kicking duties to add the extras.
This was how the scorline stayed until the end of the game and Havant had the win.
Totts did not have an answer for the strong and proffessional performance by the home side. The Havant pack fronted up and the backs were far better. There was only ever going to be one winner in this game and Havant could have had 2 or 3 more tries. The defence was again oustanding and for the second game running, have not conceded a try.
The Dolphins now look forward to an away trip to St Jacques next week looking to extend their unbeaten run to 3 games, and move to the top half of the table where they belong.
