Dolphins suffer defeat to Brighton

Pete Living12 Oct 2018 - 12:04

Recourses were spread thin in washout

The Dolphins headed down to Brighton knowing they were very understrength. With the clubs injury and availability crisis not easing, some of the AXV and Mariners were called up for the trip down the coast.

The weather did not help with a very strong wind and driving rain causing havoc.

The first 15 minutes were pretty much even with the away side looking like the side pressing for the opening score. After not taking full advantage of a couple of opportunities, Brighton took the first score following some weak talking from Havant.

The home side then learned of the defensive frailties and used these to their advantage. The high ball was used on more than one occasion which saw them score 3 more tries.

HT 26-0

The second half was more even with the wind firmly with Havant. It was not until late in the half where Brighton were able to bustle their way forward for the only score of the half.

FT 33-0

The dolphins can take some heart from the game. Whilst the scoreline does not look good, the whole team did not give up and put their bodies on the line.

'It was inevitable that they would find a couple of weaknesses, but we showed some really good signs too of how we can play. Once we get a few of the regular players back, things will be very different and we will win these type of games comfortably' Said Head Coach Lewis Osborne.

Our next game is London Cornish on 20th October in what will be the first home game this season. With the AGP not yet completed, the first team will be away again so any supporters not able to travel, we would love your support.
