With perfect conditions, the Women’s game kicked off first as they welcomed Cheltenham Tigers to The Lane. The last meeting of these two teams had seen Havant walking away the victors but Matt Davis’s team knew not to underestimate their opponent. This proved a wise choice as Cheltenham were eager from the start. Their big runners and quick turnovers were forcing a defensive show from Havant but the team were up to the task.
An amazing maul off the line out saw Ruby Dunaway score the first points for Havant. These were followed by two tries from the electric centre Cerys Ralph and her centre pairing the tenacious Sam King.
The fight continued into the second half, but Havant had found their footing and flew out the gates. Rhiannon Powell made an impact straight away, sniping around the edges and grabbing another 5 points. Cerys (who is aiming to be the top try scorer in Champ 2) snagged herself another 2 tries with the final try coming from Abi Pearson.
Havant were victorious again 48-22, giving them the 5 points they needed to stay at 2nd in the league.
